SocialWeb Japan 主催の SocialWeb Conference vol.5 にお邪魔してきました。神谷さんのプレゼンは実際に運用されている中での勘所が紹介されていたので興味深いものでした。ソーシャルアプリは爆発的にユーザが増えるので、天井が見えるのも早いけど、一瞬の爆発的なアクセスに耐えるのに Amazon EC2 を利用しているとか。人間の行動心理を読みながら開発していくあたりはさすが。

ちょっと感じたのは、実はソーシャルアプリの世界は成熟していて、既に徐々に淘汰されつつあるのかなーという印象。OpenSocial を利用することは様々な SNS を横展開するのにはよいですが、日本ではソーシャルアプリの登場以前にモバゲーをはじめとした携帯ゲーム市場が確立されていたわけで、ソーシャルアプリを見る目も肥えているでしょう。なのでソーシャルアプリの新規参入の敷居そのものが結構高くなってきている感じがしました。また先日 GREE も OpenSocial プロバイダとして参入してきました。Mixi、モバゲー、GREE、Google、goo などなど大規模 SNS がプロバイダとして存在しているので、OpenSocial プロバイダとしての新規参入もまた然り。今後は、逆にニッチなところでのロングテールを狙うのがよさそうだ。

Shindig is top-level project on ASF

The Apache Shindig project has completed incubation (2009-01-21)

As you may know, Shindig became Apache Software Foundation top-level project on 21 Jan 2010. Congrats!

Also, Subversion already graduated from incubator. Subversion is ASF top-level project, too. (via Subversion Submitted to Become a Project at The Apache Software Foundation)

Thanks and Good Bye, My WISH

Today I sold my car, Toyota WISH. (But I had black colored) I had used the car for about 6 years. We my family have many many memories in the car. The car had the best performance for us. Thanks! And good bye.

Unicons

making it easier to insert some of those little Unicode symbols (like ☃ or ☺ or ✌) into web text fields.

Brad Choate implemented a jQuery UI plugin which insert unicons like ☺ or ♫ on textarea! Very cool!!

If you are TypePad user (Sorry, TypePad Micro users couldn't use this way), first of all, you go to "Design" > "Content" page, and add "Embed your own HTML" module, then put following code. And click "Save" button.

Next, you download unicons.js and unicons.css from github to your HDD. You go "Libraly" > "File Manager" on dashboard navigation, you upload both files. (In my case, I made "static/js/" and "static/css" directories, and uploaded them. These paths are: http://blog.comewalk.com/static/js/unicons.js, http://blog.comewalk.com/static/css/unicons.css)

At the end, you'd load your blog.

You can use this plugin on your TypePad blogs!

As you may know, Yahoo! provides OAuth. Above quoted paragraph mentioned Python SDK. The SDK has some examples, especially appengine example. The example is hosted by GAE. You can try it soon. The URL is http://yapdemo.appspot.com/.

If you have any plans your application uses Yahoo! API - delicious, Yahoo! Mail, etc -, you'd see the SDK. Also you'd read the document: OAuth / OpenID Guides.
